Description

Australia’s finest athletes strived for gold at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
To support the 2020 Australian Paralympic Team and mark their long journey to Japan, the Royal Australian Mint released a coloured $2 coin featuring Australian Paralympic Team mascot – Lizzie the Lizard in manga style, certain to appeal to enthusiasts and collectors.

Between 24 August and 5 September 2021, the eyes of the world were on the elite athletes competing at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

The Tokyo Paralympics were planned for 2020, but postponed because
of the Covid-19 pandemic; the first time games have been rescheduled rather than cancelled, as they were during the World Wars.

Australia’s 2020 Paralympic Team was the largest ever, with 179 particiants (exceeding the 177 who competed at the 2016 games).
