To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first coloured $2 coin released into circulation, The Royal Australian Minthas released this stunning 2022 $2 C Mintmark Coloured Uncirculated Coin featuring the iconic original red poppy design.
A Mint first when it was released in 2012, the red poppy coin heralded an amazing decade of coloured $2 coin releases and collecting.
When the Royal Australian Mint released the Remembrance Day coloured $2 coin in November 2012 it signified a number of firsts for
the organisation – the first coloured coin released into circulation, the first use of micro text on a circulating coin, and the first time that the $2 coin reverse design had been changed since its introduction in 1988. This was an important milestone for the Mint and its ongoing development as a truly modern world-leading centre of numismatic excellence.
In the intervening decade, the Mint has continued to release coloured $2 coins into circulation to commemorate major anniversaries
With each release, the Australian public has embraced these small colourful ‘Australian stories’ and engaged in an ongoing national passion for coin collecting.
