DETAILS

In 1889 Henry Parkes, then Prime Minister (Premier) of the New South Wales remarked almost casually to the imperially appointed Govenor (but a good friend) of his colony, Lord Carrington, during a conversation comparing federated Canada with colonial Australia, "I could confederate these (the Australian colonies) in twelve months". "Then why don't you do it," said Carrington enthusuastically, "It would be a glorious finish to your life."

The obverse of each coin features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Raphael Maklouf. The reverse of the 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c coins were created by Stuart Devlin, the $2 coin was designed by Horst Hahne, and the $1 coins was designed and sculpted by Wojciech Pietranik. The proof coins in this set are struck on specially prepared blanks using hand polished dies. The finished product is a mirror-like flat surface complimented by a delicately frosted raised design. One minting is complete, all dies are destroyed.

Please Note: These are second-hand collectables and may contain scratches, creases, marks, toning or other minor damage. Feel free to ask for photos before purchasing.
