Description

Details:

In 1907, Australia's Modern surf lifesaving movement was founded with the newly formed NSW Surf Bathing Association. Since those early years, beach culture has captured the hearts and the weekends of many Australians, and the surf lifesaving movement has grown in response to become an integral part of this culture. Over the decades, the mythologised figure of the surf lifesaver has become something of a symbol of our identity. In 2007, the efforts of generations of Australian surf lifesavers are celebrated through the Year of the Surf Lifesaver.
