Details

In recognition of Australia’s strong commitment to keeping the peace, The Royal Australian Mint is releasing a special one dollar uncirculated coin in recognition of this significant 60th anniversary. The coin release is to create awareness of the sacrifice of Australian Peacekeepers in the service of international peace and security, and to recognise the courage and professionalism of Australian Peacekeepers in the face of the
particular challenges of their operations.

The design features the helping hands of Australia cradling the globe with an olive branch to complete. Another symbol of peace, the white dove, is also included in the image. These universal symbols reflect the accepted ideals of peace and freedom and Australia’s proud role in supporting these ideals. The helping hands demonstrate Australia’s proven success in peacekeeping throughout the world.
