To celebrate the International Year of Astronomy in 2009, The Royal Australian Mint has released this outstanding two coin proof set. The event, backed by the United Nations and UNESCO, has a theme of 'The Universe, Yours to Discover'.
The aim of international Year of Astronomy in Australia's is to emphasise our country's contribution to international astronomy, and to raise awareness of the cultural and educational significance of the night sky. 

The release of this two coin set encourages greater awareness of the night sky to all Australians and enthusiasts worldwide, in a beautifully presented memento.
This set consists of a standard $1 coin and a unique 20c piece, featuring an image of star-gazers against a star-chart backdrop, specifically designed by the Royal Australian Mint's designer Caitlin Goodall. This set compliments the six coin proof set.
