In 2011, Queen Elizabeth II made her sixteenth visit to Australia to open the 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which brings together the leaders of all the Commonwealth nations. Her Majesty was the first reigning monarch to visit Australia in 1954, and she had visited every Australian state and mainland territory since.
