Also known as the 'Giant bulldog ant" or a "Hoppy Joe", the Red Bull Ant's ferocious reputation stems from its hunting and defensive techniques. The venomous sting in its tail can cause pain and swelling that last for days. Unlike many other ants, the Red Bull Ant does not use chemical 'scents' to communicate and navigate, but its superior eyesight helps it to spot predators and other threats from at least two metres away.
