The first of Ford's Bathurst wins wasn't in a Falcon, but the diminutive Cortina MK I. Smaller than the Falcon, the Cortina Consul (Cortina MKI) created a new class of 'compact' family verhicles, built on the principles of durability, practicality and affordability. Despite its humble origins, the Cortina MKI achieved remarkable success on Australian racetracks.
