Description
The Royal Australian Mint has again partnered with News Corp Australia to produce this unique collection of coins marking the centenary of the Armistice on 11 November 1918. Honouring the Anzac values that define the spirit of Australia, this set of fifteen uncirculated 20 and 50 cent coins draws inspiration from the Hall of Memory in the Australian War Memorial.
November 2018 is the centenary of the Armistice that ended the First World War. The war had a powerful impact on Australia's self-identity: after four years of conflict Australia shared in the victory, but at the cost of 62,000 lives. In this crucible of war, Australian servicemen and women embraced the values that later helped to shape our national character.
These values were later enshrined in the magnificent Hall of Memory in the Australian War Memorial. The fifteen values are each represented in this collection of uncirculated coins produced by the Royal Australian Mint in partnership with News Corp. Each coin explores one of the many stories of the Australian men and women who served in the First World War.
