The Simpsons first aired as a half-hour television series in 1989 and instantly became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon, now seen across 60 countires in 20 languages. In 2018, The Simpsons reached an incredible milestone, becoming the longest-running primetime scripted show in television history.
When it reached it's 30th Season, The Simpsons had won 33 Emmy Awards, 34 Annie Awards, a 2017 People's Choice Award, was the first animated series to win a Peabody Award, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for the theatrical short "The Longest Daycare", and the show was honoured with a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000.
The coin's reverse portrays a coloured image of Bart Simpson against the backdrop of Springfield's local convenience store, the Kwik-E-Mart. Included in the design is Matt Groening's signature and Perth Mint's 'P' Mint Mark.
