The Simpsons first aired as a half-hour television series in 1989 and instantly became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon, now seen across 60 countires in 20 languages. In 2018, The Simpsons reached an incredible milestone, becoming the longest-running primetime scripted show in television history.
When it reached it's 30th Season, The Simpsons had won 33 Emmy Awards, 34 Annie Awards, a 2017 People's Choice Award, was the first animated series to win a Peabody Award, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for the theatrical short "The Longest Daycare", and the show was honoured with a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000.
The coin's reverse portray's acoloured image of Maggie Simpson sleeping on the floor of the family living room with The Simpson's pets, Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II. Included in the design is Matt Groening's signature and The Perth Mint's 'P' Mint Mark.
