The 1984 James Hardie 1000 completed the trilogy of Peter Brock's second Bathurst hat-trick and eighth overall triumph at Mount Panorama. Alongside co-driver Larry Perkins, the dominant duo started in pole position, before steering the Holden VK Commodore to a masterful victory. In an imposing display for the Holden Dealer Team, Brock and Perkins led all but 19 of the 163 laps to triumph whilst John Harvey and David Parsons claimed second place.
