Driving alongside Peter Mcleod and David Parsons in the VL Commodore SS Group A, Brock led an inspiring fight back in third place. In subsequent months, the leading Texaco Ford Sierras were disqualified from the race, ultimately confirming Brock as the winner of his ninth and final Bathurst.
