This remarkable silver coin is the very first silver Kookaburra issued by the Perth Mint, and laid the foundation for their hugely popular Kookaburra series.

Although it had a mintage of just 300,000 coins, it was so popular with collectors around the world that it was over-subscribed by a factor of 5 when it was released.

It was also voted the "most popular coin" in the world in 1991 - that's a big accolade.
